Located in the north of Portugal, Porto is one of the country’s oldest cities, known for its history and tourist attractions. On our trip, we had the opportunity to interview incredible people, and in the process, tour this city that has so much to offer.

Even though our visit was brief, we really got to do a lot. We recommend you stay for 3 to 4 days in Porto. We arrived in the city by train. We were in Lisbon and saw that one of the options to get to Porto was by train (Comboio, as they call it). The price is higher than going by bus, but it’s a very peaceful journey and the landscapes are quite beautiful; it’s an attraction in and of itself.
We stayed in the Sé region, near the famous Luís I Bridge. But our recommendation is to stay in the Cedofeita neighborhood, a region full of energy, with many shops, restaurants, and cafés, as well as being close to the most historic area of the city.
What we most like to do is get to know and explore the city on foot, and Porto is a great city for that. Walking around, you can explore different spots, walk along the Ribeira, walk over or under the Luís I Bridge, and along the way, discover cafés and restaurants. Porto has a great mix between modernity and antiquity, it’s worth spending some time to admire the city’s buildings.
When it comes to sneaker stores, the ones we liked most were B.A.E., Wrong Weather, and LOT. Even though the city is small, it has a lot of shops for all tastes.
STORES
LOT (Labels of Tomorrow) Located in the historic building on José Falcão Street, this is where we interviewed Vitor Costa. The two-story store has a very spacious, cozy space organized like a gallery, where each brand has its own space. The cool thing about this is that you can get discover different European brands, all in one place. The store stands out for its curation, and it was there that we discovered Rains, a lifestyle outerwear brand that produces waterproof clothing and accessories. It was also there that we got to see some Sanjo sneakers in hand for the first time. Worth the visit!
B.A.E. Store On 31 de Janeiro Street, this was our favorite sneaker boutique in Porto. They have a selection of really cool products, with different brands. But the real standout is that on the second floor there is a museum with various old sneakers and original models, from brands like Diadora, Reebok, Le Coq Sportif, adidas, and especially New Balance. If you enjoy seeing these OG sneakers, you’ll really like this museum. Our second visit to the store was at the invitation of Contracoutura, for a New Balance Grey Day event.
Wrong Weather Store This store is on Avenida da Boavista, and was founded by João Pedro Vasconcelos in 2009. WW is a store specialized in streetwear and luxury items, where you find new and old collections from brands like Jil Sander, Kenzo, Off-White, Vetements, A-Cold-Wall, Y-3, Rick Owens, Maison Margiela, among others. They also have a great sneaker curation.
Fernandes, Mattos & Ca., Lda Located on Rua das Carmelitas, the store was established in 1886 as a fabric house. 10 years ago they changed the store’s concept, and today you can find everything – from perfumes, sunglasses, and bags, to wines and olive oils. The store’s architecture is a spectacle in its own right – it’s a mix of traditional and contemporary, reflecting the city’s style.
Porta 188 This store is in Praça do Bom Sucesso. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to visit, but it’s a Sneaker Boutique with premium made-in-portugal products, sneakers, and Streetwear clothing from the most relevant brands.
Sneaker Culture It’s a resale store located on Santa Catarina Street. If you want to find the hyped sneakers of the moment, this is where you have to go.
Foot Locker It’s one of the most famous sneaker chain stores in the world. You can find them from the United States to Australia. And Portugal also has its share of Foot Locker stores, so it’s worth stopping by the store to find good pairs on sale, and it’s one of the few stores where you can find Air Jordans.
Sportino It’s in downtown Porto, and is also a chain store, but Portuguese. Usually, Sportino stores are thematic, and the one we went to felt like we were inside a subway tunnel. There you can find a wide variety of brands, from Reebok and Lacoste, to Dr. Martens.
GASTRONOMY
Cookie Club Porto On Rua de Cedofeita. We really like cookies, and on our trips, we try to find the best cookies in the city. For us, this one, besides being the best in Porto, is one of the best we’ve ever had in our lives. We also tried the vegan cookie, it’s delicious.
Mercado do Bolhão Bolhão is one of the city’s most emblematic buildings. Located on Rua Formosa, it is considered a municipal heritage. It’s beautiful, worth the visit for the architecture, but don’t forget to try some of the delights they sell at the fair, like sweets and Portuguese snacks.
Fábrica Coffee Roasters This was one of the cafes we liked the most in Porto. Located in the Cedofeita neighborhood, you can have delicious coffees and teas, and try their naturally fermented bread. The atmosphere is very pleasant and quite peaceful to work, or just to have coffee.
Noshi Coffee On Rua do Carmo, it’s a very charming café, it has delicious bread, healthy foods, and also meals for those who like a nice brunch.
Taberna Londrina Porto We weren’t able to go, but it was recommended by Vitor Costa as the best place to eat francesinha in Porto. The francesinha is a traditional dish that has existed for over 70 years, and it’s a sandwich made with sausage, ham, and other meats, cheese, a homemade sauce, and is usually accompanied by a portion of french fries.
My Coffee Porto This cafe, located on Escadas do Codeçal, is a very small and simple space, but the view makes the visit worthwhile. Our tip is that you arrive early to have breakfast while admiring the wonderful view of the Douro River and the Luís I Bridge.
ART & CULTURE
Ponte Luís I A symbol of the city of Porto, you can’t miss going to the Luís I Bridge. Inaugurated in 1886, it connects the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. The visit during the day is as beautiful as it is at night. Walking both over and under it is an indescribable experience.
Plano B Club Located on Rua Cândido dos Reis. This is where the New Balance Grey Day party we were invited to took place. It’s an old mansion, completely renovated, where each floor has unique decoration. Every week they have a different schedule of parties and events.
Casa da Música It’s on Avenida da Boavista, and this is where we did the interview with João Guedes. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get in due to lack of time, but we were able to admire the building’s architecture from the outside. Designed by Rem Koolhaas, it’s an iconic complex, with 12 floors, concert halls, and restaurants.
Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves Located in Parque de Serralves, unfortunately, we couldn’t go, but we had to recommend it. Inaugurated in 1999, the museum is an international reference in the field of contemporary arts.
Estação Ferroviária de São Bento Those who go to the historic center of Porto will normally come across São Bento Station. It’s a famous railway station, founded in the 19th century. It’s known for the elaborate tile work located in the main hall. Worth a visit!
In conclusion, Porto is a vibrant city that combines history, culture, and modernity. With a variety of sneaker stores, restaurants, and cafes, as well as iconic tourist spots, this city offers a unique experience.
It’s worth remembering that we did some interviews there, and you can check everything out here on the site. We hope you enjoyed this itinerary, and stay tuned for the next ones to come!
